The hardware obviously works well enough, or no one would buy the devices, but if I have a spare computer anyway, wouldn't that be the best way to go? What are the pros and cons of putting RouterOS on a machine I have at home, instead of buying a MikroTik box? The devices on sale seem reasonably priced, but not all that powerful if I use VPNs or anything else that needs some horsepower. I found out about MikroTik and RouterOS yesterday while searching for options for a good home router.
